WELCOME TO GSMI-HAITI.ORG
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Matthew 28:19-20
Good Shepherd Ministries International (GSMI) has been ministering to the people of Haiti since 1973. In 1973, Norman & Imogene Dixon felt the calling of the Holy Spirit to come to Haiti. Seeing that Haiti was perhaps the most spiritually darkened and oppressed people in the world, they organized a group of five friends into a corporate body that would become the Board of Orphans, Inc. An orphanage was completed in 1975.
Before returning to the United States the Dixons came upon hundreds of malnourished children unable to go to school due to the poor economic conditions in Haiti. It became evident that God intended to do much more than build an orphanage. Through the ensuing years, churches and schools were built and staffed with Haitian believers. The name of the ministry was changed to Good Shepherd Ministries.
Between 1973 and 2009, Good Shepherd Ministries has seen thousands of children impacted with the gospel through our schools. During these years, Good shepherd Ministries has built schools and hired Christian Haitian teachers and staff. Currently we have 3 campuses with around 1600 children, 55 teachers, and 6 principals.
Spend about five minutes and look at the information on our website to see how you might become involved in supporting us in prayer, short-term missions (medical, teaching, Bible School), and financial support.
The Great commission (Scripture above) says that we are to go and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost and teach them (discipleship) to obey the Word of God.
Good Shepherd Ministries is actively involved in this Great Commission, starting with providing a free Christian education for 1600+ children each year. This ministry is also a great example of the "Great Commandment", love others as you love yourself.
